No complaints...

I’ve been using this app for a number of years now. It has always done what it was designed to do, and does it very well. The file conversion process is painless!

Supremely useful!

This app has gotten better and better with each version - more capabilities, better stability, and better results. Can’t ask for anything better for converting movies and importing metadata.

Its Good

It really saved me from having to throw away an hours work of footage, but at times it will crash and its a little annoying. Although I still would get it if you are looking for a converter.

Love it !

Soooo easy. best 2 bucks ive spent in a long time

Fantastic!

This app does everything I need it to do. It is very easy to use. It has big buttons that are easy to understand. I download a video and load it into iVI. It converts it adds the meta data and exports its to Plex for me. So simple :)

Exactly what I needed!

Perfect! Exactly what i needed! Thanks!

Great for non-techies

I have used several conversion apps and while they all worked reasonably well but setting them up was a pain. If you don’t need or dont care about controlling every technical aspect (and there are a number of them) of your finsihed movie file, this is for you. It works great and still allows for adjusting some of the more important settings. Great results can be had from just dragging the file to be converted into the app and clicking “convert”. Will imbed subtitles. It will search the web and supply the cover photo, actors, description etc., and include those in the file. This info can be added in seconds to exiting movie files that donot have this data.

Need a major update

Alot of bugs. Sometimes it doesnt covert the subtitles and the info. Take awhile to download as well.

Easy and Reliable

I’ve used this app a little over a year and I love it. For quick conversions, adding subtitle .srt files, metadata, and exporting directly to iTunes, it is perfect. It is more reliable than MP4Tools, much faster than Handbrake, and performs a multitude of tasks. Highly recommended!!

Proven and tested! A must have!

This is my to go app and it simply works, and it works really well. I personally prefer this over Handbrake for reliability and stability. Worth every penny!

Perfect….updated

This app is all about two features for me. Most important is the powerful, fast, customizable conversion settings. Exactly what I need, and it does batch conversion. That is the first thing I look for in a converter. The other feature that Ive never had but is so amazing is finding TV sho or Movie info and filling in all of that metadata. It makes the files I import into iTunes looks as if I got them from the iTunes Store. This is the first app Ive purchased from the Mac App Store and I think it will be the best I download all year. 3.3 Update: After fixing the problem with theTVDB integrati, I now have problems converting video tracks of all file types. Useless at this point for converting videos for me 3.65 Update: I think this will now be my replacement now for subler, whereas with subler I have to manually search and apply metadata to videos for everything file, iVI automatically applies the metadata based on filename and allows for corrections, the itunes store integration is what I thought I’d lose switching from subler but its included. I only have an issue with audio options, where checking any box force checks a greyed out stereo copy, duplicating that track in the final output.

How Did I Live WIthout This?

This is a very powerful piece of software that makes oragnising and manging media library both effortless and easy. Absolutely essential for modern digital lifestyle, cannot recommend this highly enough - very easy to use, simple intuitive navigation witrh all the Power User features you could ever want. BUY IT!!

LOVE IT!

I love it and use it daily. So easy to convert any file to work on my iphone or ipad

Easy and versatile

Very easy to convert and add extras (like cover art and movie info) to your content. Supports drag and drop and conversion for importation into iTunes. I have converted mkv, avi, mp4 and mpg files painlessly. Worth every penny if you want a pro look to your content in iTunes.

Slow, sluggish interface

It appears to be “maybe" working so far, first conversion is in progress, but it was maddeningly annoying just to get to this point as the interface did not seem to want to respond very quickly. My first attempt is to try joining two halves of a move. The system has been telling me a conversion time of 1 hour and 51 minutes for about 10 minutes now and my activity monitor is showing that the program isn’t really doing anything so I’m a little skeptical of how useful this app is going to be. Update: First attempt, joining 2 movie halves, resulted in a 21MB file rather than the expected 2.5 GB file. Follow on attempts at joinging result in a total tailure with no reason given as to WHY they failed. Lowering my 3 stars to 2. I appear to have wasted good money on this

Very useful

I use this as a substitute for Handbrake and MetaZ, although this app apparently uses Handbrake in the background, it does not appear to use all of the CPU (which I like). The advantages I have found (over my other system) are that it will mark video as SD or HD (but it’s not quite automatic), it can automatically determine movie or TV show season/episode from the file name (although it had minor probems with “Battlestar Galactica (2003)” - note the parenthesis), and it will automatically move the result into iTunes. Although the last part is a bit weird as it seems to move the source file (can’t quite describe the behavior). Settings are very easy to understand vs. Handbrake. Tagging search results are not as comprehensive as MetaZ, but it can mark videos as HD, and it doesn’t seem to confuse Actor/Director/Show entries as MetaZ does. Batch mode works good: name the files appropriately (e.g. TVShow.S1.E5.mkv, Movie.mkv), then drag-drop into iVI. Validate the tagging results, then click [Convert All]. Almost a no-brainer. Originally downloaded it to join movies; I could not get it to work for that purpose. I found a better method (MP4Box -cat) that does not try to re-encode, so it’s a whole lot faster. But for encoding and tagging (and moving into iTunes) this is a very good app.
